We use Level 3 to investigate a serious problem hidden from view. We work within the three inspection levels defined by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), reaching concealed areas only when needed.

When you need it

  • A Level 1 inspection finds a serious problem that needs access to a concealed area.
  • A Level 2 inspection identifies a hidden concern we cannot fully assess from accessible areas.
  • We suspect hidden damage after a chimney fire.

What's included

  • We carry out everything covered by Levels 1 and 2, including the flue camera inspection.
  • We inspect the concealed areas needed to understand the serious problem.
  • We may remove parts of the chimney or building, such as a chimney crown or part of a wall, only when necessary to reach those areas.
  • We explain exactly what needs to be opened and why before we start.
  • We do not open anything without your approval.

What you get after

We provide photos of the areas inspected, including any concealed sections we opened with your approval.

We walk you through the hidden damage or other conditions we found and explain any remaining limits to the inspection.

After a chimney fire or storm damage

Do not use your chimney again until it has been inspected. We explain any findings that need attention before you use it.
