Air Duct / SERVICE TOPIC

Duct Repair

Duct repair addresses a damaged spot or connection without necessarily replacing the entire section. We assess the defect and explain whether sealing or patching is suitable, so the repair boundary is clear before work begins.

Signs of a local duct problem

  • A visible gap at a duct connection.
  • A tear or small damaged area in a section.
  • A connection that has separated or become loose.
  • A localized change in air movement near the affected run.

How we approach sealing and patching

  1. Find the precise defect

We identify where the separation or damage is visible and consider the condition of the material around it.

  2. Check whether a local repair is suitable

The extent of the damage and the duct material guide the choice. A deteriorated section may need replacement instead.

  3. Describe the repair boundary

We explain the area to be sealed or patched and how access affects the proposal before the work is agreed.

  4. Repair the affected area

We carry out the sealing or patching described in the scope, using an approach suited to the duct and the particular defect.

  5. Show the finished area

Before-and-after photos help document the repair. We explain what was addressed and point out related concerns outside that boundary.

Repair work and other services stay distinct

Your quote identifies the damaged area and the repair proposed for it. Sealing or patching can help address that local defect; it is not a statement that the entire distribution system has been rebuilt or cleaned.

Duct repair is quoted separately after we see your system. Replacing a damaged run, changing a plenum box or cleaning deposits is different work. An opening needed to reach the duct and any surrounding restoration should also be described in the proposal.

What happens at your property

You can show us the gap or damaged section from an accessible location. We look at the surrounding material, explain the repair option and discuss access before starting. You receive photographs and a clear description of the particular area repaired.

Questions about a local duct repair

What is the practical difference between a patch and replacement?

A patch or seal addresses a defined defect in the existing duct. Replacement removes a section and fits another in its place. The material and extent of damage help determine which task is appropriate.

Can a repair also remove the dirt inside the duct?

Not by itself. Repair addresses the physical defect, while cleaning collects deposits from accessible passages. We describe the cleaning scope separately if you want both jobs considered.
