Air Duct / SERVICE TOPIC

Duct Replacement

Duct replacement removes an affected section and installs a replacement in its place. We review the material, condition and connections before proposing the work, so you can distinguish replacing a section from cleaning it or making a local repair.

Conditions that can lead to a replacement discussion

  • A crushed or badly deteriorated section.
  • Damaged internal lining that cannot simply be cleaned.
  • A connection or section that no longer fits properly.
  • Visible damage extending beyond a small repair area.

How we plan and replace a duct section

  1. Identify the affected run

We locate the section you are concerned about and review its material, connections and the access around it.

  2. Compare replacement with repair

We explain why the visible condition calls for a particular task. Not every gap or dirty passage needs replacement.

  3. Agree on the section and material

Your quote defines the replacement boundary and connection work. A flexible-to-metal change is considered where suitable and according to applicable code.

  4. Replace the agreed part

We remove the selected section and fit the replacement to the route and equipment, addressing the agreed connections and support.

  5. Review and photograph the work

We document the section before and after replacement, then explain the visible result and any area outside the proposal.

A replacement section, not an assumed whole-home rebuild

The proposal identifies the duct section, replacement material and connections included. Replacing a damaged section can help restore a usable air path, but the surrounding system still has its own condition and access limits.

Duct replacement is quoted separately after we see your system. Additional runs, work inside a wall, plenum replacement and cleaning are separate scopes. If we find more damage, we discuss the finding and proposed change before extending the job.

What you can expect during the visit

Show us the equipment location and the section you have noticed. We review the access and explain what removal and fitting involve. After the work, we show the photographs and describe the replaced area rather than implying that every duct has been renewed.

Replacement questions

Do all flexible ducts need to be changed to metal?

No. The material and route need to suit the particular application. We assess the affected section and applicable installation requirements rather than treat flexible material alone as a reason to replace everything.

Does one replacement include every connected branch?

Only the sections described in the accepted quote are included. Connected branches may remain in place, need a separate repair or require another replacement proposal.
